Further Information
Beaches
No beaches are far away, the furthest is 8 miles as the crow flies. The nearest are Fermain, arguably the prettiest in the islands on the east coast, within easy walking distance if you are reasonably fit, and Moulin Huet on the south coast which was painted frequently by Renoir, a bit further than Fermain. Whether you drive or cycle to near these, you will have to walk down the last part on a path, which includes steps for Moulin Huet.
Cliff Walks
The island boasts some of the finest cliff walks in Britain, some with views over the other islands and France. They are well maintained by the authorities.
Banks & Money
UK money is legal tender in Guernsey, but you may get change in Guernsey pounds which can be changed back into UK money at any bank on a 1:1 basis.
Apart from the many banks in St Peter Port, in the parish there is HSBC very close by and Lloyds TSB a five minute walk away. There are cash machines at HSBC, the Lloyds TSB and at the nearby local Co-op supermarket.
Contours
The Manor is on one of the higher points of the island and St Peter Port one of the lowest and this should be born in mind when cycling or on foot.
Mobile Phones
Please check with your mobile phone company to see if your phone is accessible from the Channel Islands as not all mobiles work in Guernsey. You may need to activate a roaming plan.
Buses
Public transport is frequent, bus routes 95, 94, 93, 92 and 91 are going from the Airport, Sausmarez Manor to St. Peter Port (81 passes nearby). The buses go 4x an hour. Vist www.buses.gg for the timetable.
Taxis
Taxis are easily booked during the day though can get scarce in the evenings especially at weekends.
Shops
There is a Supermarket, HSBC Bank, Pharmacy, Doctors Surgery, Post box and public telephone at the end of the road (less than 300 yards).
Location
Being on a compact island, none of the numerous beaches and coves and little islands are far away. Two of the prettiest beaches - Fermain and Moulin Huet, (much painted by Renoir), are less than 20 mins on foot. With some of the finest cliff walks and surrounded by some of the cleanest seas in Europe it is a haven for divers, walkers, swimmers, surfers, sailors, photographers, bird watchers and artists.
For everyone else there are around 30 attractions to visit like Medieval, Napoleonic and WWII Fortifications, Museums, Concert Halls, Open Gardens. Minutes from St. Peter Port with its shops, harbour and an enviable array of restaurants.
